The Forest Department puts up a signboard that claims the land as government property Dhaka Tribune
The government should take legal action against the forest scammers as they are enemy of the country, says Dr Iftekharuzzaman
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has found up to 61% embezzlement in many cases during allotting fund for implementing forestation projects by the Forest Department.
Officials under the divisional forest office, forest range office and bit office are involved into the corruption channel.
TIB unveiled a study report over the corruption titled “Forest Department: Governance Challenges and Way Forward,” through a virtual press conference on Wednesday.
“The government should take legal action against the forest scammers as they are enemy of the country,” said Dr Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of TIB.
