Bohol governor meets Bangladesh envoy, vows to boost ties
CEBU CITY – Gov. Aris Aumentado on Thursday, Feb. 9, met Ambassador Borban Uddin at the provincial capitol in Tagbilaran City to strengthen ties between Bohol and Bangladesh.
“We warmly welcomed him and he was impressed with the beauty of our province,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado said he and the Bangladesh ambassador to the Philippines discussed several programs that would help improve the province’s tourism, trade, and agricultural programs.
“We also talked about the possibility of forging a sisterhood agreement between Bohol and Bangladesh to further improve our relations,” Aumentado said.
Initiating a stronger people-to-people cooperation between Bohol and Bangladesh was also tackled, said Aumentado.
“We are really looking forward to building stronger relations with Bangladesh as it will have a huge impact in our bid for a better Bohol,” Aumenatdo said.
Uddin was accompanied by Counselor Sayma Razzaki and Virgilio Espeleta, honorary consul general to Visayas.
Also present during the meeting were Bohol Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite, Maria Fe Dominise of the Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office, and Joanne Pinat of the Bohol Tourism Office.
